The American Basketball Association (ABA) released its preseason Power Rankings on Oct. 19, 2022, for the upcoming 2022-23 season. The regular season begins on the first weekend of November. The Indiana Lyons’ first regular season game is on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 5 p.m. against the expansion Excelsior Springs Scream.

The Lyons have nine (9) games scheduled against five (5) ranked teams this season, including one at home against the defending ABA Champion and #1-ranked Steel City Yellow Jackets.

Three (3) members of the ABA Midwest Region are ranked this preseason: the defending Midwest Region Champion Music City Jazz, the Clarksville Phoenix, and the Indiana Lyons.

The American Basketball Association (ABA) today released its Power Rankings for the week ending Sunday, February 26th and the Chula Vista Suns held onto the #1 position by a very slight margin over last year’s ABA Final Eight runner-up, the Chicago Fury. “With only one week left in the regular season, it looks like the Suns will be number one unless there is an upset in the final game,” stated ABA CEO Joe Newman. “But there are very strong teams in every Division, with the Top 10 teams having lost only 14 games and winning 151 games. The Final Eight should be our strongest field ever.”

The Suns were followed closely by the Steel City Yellow Jackets who also won. The defending ABA Champion Jacksonville Giants jumped into the Power Rankings for the first time this season having played its ninth game. “This was the most difficult weekend of the season,” stated ABA CEO. “With the terrible snowstorms in the Northeast and upper Midwest combined with a large number of cancellations due to Covid 19 venue availability, we played about half of our regular games. Hopefully that will change next weekend.”
